iPhone

The iPhone, latest gadget by Apple Inc. has finally been officially launched in early Jan 2007. After long speculations of whether this phone will really come to life had been answered. There's even a blog created for concept image posting. Although they did posted well-imaginative idea, seeing the actual iPhone is simply much more than you could expect. A revolutionary new mobile phone that allows you to make a call by simply pointing your finger at a name or number in your address book, a favorites list, or a call log. This 11.6 millimeter device include a 3.5-inch 480 x 320 touchscreen display with multi-touch support. A proximity sensor to turn off the screen when it's close to your face. 2 megapixel camera, 4GB or 8 GB of storage, 802.11b/g WiFi which will give up to broadband-speed browsing and connectivity. Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, cingular's EDGE data network for high-speed internet access, and quad-band GSM. Battery life of up to 5hours for talk, video and browsing while estimation of up to 16hours for audio playback.

Apple iPhone runs with OS X operating systems, giving you access to true desktop-class applications, full featured web browsing, widgets, Safari and etc. It has an accelerometer that detects when you rotate the device from portrait to landscape, then automatically changes the contents of the display, so you immediately see the entire width of a web page or a photo in its proper landscape aspect ratio. iPhone includes an SMS application with predictive QWERTY soft keyboard, which they claim is easier and more efficient than most keyboard on many smartphone. With Google Maps and iPhone’s amazing Maps application, you can view maps and satellite images, or get directions and traffic information, all from iPhone’s remarkable, easy-to-use touch interface.

As current user of smartphone, seeing all the specs provided by iPhone has simply make it an irresitable gadget to have. It is said to be available in asia only in 2008, which should be able to give me time to save some money.
